Ode to Video Ads

I absolutely love video ad campaigns. Check out these very different ad campaigns from Prada, Burberry, and Givency for Fall/Winter ’12-’13.

This Prada ad is very cinematic. At first glance, it appears to be a futuristic time with combat and stunningly dressed women. The ad is based on the game of chess where the Prada models are pawns on a geometric board.

What comes to mind after watching this video? The campaign brings out the essence of London – from weather to iconic outerwear to easygoing music. The campaign soundtrack is called Indigo Home recorded by Roo Panes in case you feel the urge to add this music to your library. I know I do!

This video isn’t a campaign on its own but it features a behind-the-scenes look into one of Givenchy’s photo shoots. It’s almost mesmerizing to see the models dancing freely (like no one’s watching) to get the best shots possible.

What are some of your favorite ad campaigns this fall?

Gucci’s Sheer Genius

I absolutely love sheer fabric. It’s so sexy and light, and moves so freely when you’re wearing it. I’m all for wearing a sheer top with nothing but a bra underneath but what I’m obsessed with right now is the mix of sheer and solid, whether by creating panels or adding appliqués.

It’s showing skin without revealing too much. It’s allowing other to see how seductive you are while remaining a lady. It’s putting your confidence on display.

Frida Giannini did it OH SO RIGHT for Gucci Fall ’12 Ready-To-Wear.

I like how the paneling is shaped to add to the alluring nature of the clothes and how the feather appliqués are placed in a way that emphasizes the shape of the body. So sexy.

Now, where to wear one of these looks.. Hmm…
